Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited finished off their 2015 fortnightly cattle sales on Monday 21st December when they sold 27 OTM cattle.
Topping the sale at 162p per kg or £936.36 per head was a Belted Galloway Bull consigned byGlen Farming Company, Gatehouse of Fleet.
Cast cows met a steady demand selling to£839.16 for a Luing from Arbigland and to 132p per kg for a SimmX from the same home.
Overage Galloway bullocks sold to 124p or £844.44 from Craig Farm, Balmaclellan. Overall averages levelled at 94.5p per kg or £518.08 per head.
At Ayr market on Monday, December 21, Craig Wilson Ltd had forward 1983 sheep, compromising 1545 prime lambs, 438 cast ewes & tups. Prime lambs sold to a top price of 197.6p/kg for a pen of 42kg Beltex Lambs from T Miller & son, High Gameshill, Stewarton with the overall average being 162.4p/kg (+12.2p on the week). All classes of lambs were easily cleared especially good lean export types which easily made 170p/kg plus.
