More than fifty SNP campaigners from the Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock constituency braved Saturday morning’s blustery weather to help Westminster candidate Corri Wilson celebrate her 50th birthday.
Supporters from all seven wards within the constituency converged on Wellington Square with flowers, balloons and a piper to wish the candidate a happy birthday before spending the day talking to voters on Ayr High Street.
“I was absolutely delighted to see so many friendly faces turn up on such a cold and windy morning,” said Corri. “While many party activists were out campaigning in other parts of the constituency, it was a fabulous boost to have more than fifty come along especially to sing happy birthday to me.
“With three weeks of campaigning still to go, it was nice to take some time out to mark the day, especially as during a serious illness a few short years ago it seemed unlikely I would reach this landmark birthday.
“But we were all soon back out talking to the people of Ayr about the benefits of electing a strong contingent of SNP MPs in May. Hopefully, we can have a proper celebration in a few weeks’ time.”
