Almost 500 awards were presented at a ceremony held by South Ayrshire Council’s Community Learning and Development Service in the Carrick Centre, Maybole, to mark the achievements of both young people and adult learners.
The evening was conducted by Kieran Robb, School Captain at Carrick Academy. Success was celebrated for participation by adults in a range of programmes from literacy learning, parents involved in family learning and adults gaining nationally recognised accreditation on courses such as Customer Care, PC Passport and Food Hygiene.
Young people across the Carrick area received recognition through gaining Dynamic Youth Awards and Youth Achievement Awards through their involvement in a range of projects as well as more specific awards for climbing and skiing and Saltire Awards for volunteering.
The awards were presented by Councillors Alec Clark and Alec Oattes representing Girvan and South Carrick and Councillors Brian Connolly, Ann Galbraith and William Grant representing Maybole and North Carrick.
Entertainment was provided by Celtic Voices from Girvan led by Davy Hunter. Kieran Callow from Maybole Youth Club provided the Vote of Thanks.
