Carrick Gazette editorial comment

The news that locally based firm We Hae Meat has this week signed an estimated £1m contract with Asda supermarkets should be welcomed across the Carrick region.

In these fragile economic times it is wonderful to see a local firm reaping their rewards and this new deal that will see four new products stocked in 50 stores across Scotland is just reward for the hard work that is carried out by the staff at Cairnhill Farm.

And with unemployment levels still high in this part of the country, the news that eight to ten extra staff are to be taken on by We Hae Meat to cope with the increased distribution is fantastic news.

This is a firm producing top quality products day in and day out right on our door steps, and they deserve every bit of success that is coming their way.

Dailly’s Robby McCrorie is enjoying some fabulous success so far in his fledgling football career and long may it continue.

Fresh from signing his first professional contract with Rangers at the end of last month, the teenager is now starring with Scotland Under 17s at the Euro Championships in Malta.

He was part of the team that secured a fantastic 1-0 win over Germany on Monday night with Robby himself pulling off a world class save to ensure all three points went Scotland’s way.

His career is still in the early stages but it looks as though he is destined for the top which would be some achievement for someone from a small village.
