Carrick to lose Blythswood Care lorry collection service

Carrick will no longer have monthly collections made by the Blythswood Care lorry, however donations can still be made to the charity at its shop in Prestwick.

This week Blythswood Care said it would like to thank supporters for their donations to the monthly Collection Lorry and also to the 2014 Shoe Box Campaign.

Gifts were delivered to Eastern Europe in time for Christmas, and also to Pakistan.

During the past year the goods donated to the lorry have helped to fund the charity’s work supporting humanitarian aid, social care projects, work to alleviate child poverty and gospel mission work.

A new collection schedule has been drawn up for Ayrshire and the lorry will call on Friday 9th January at Beith Trinity Church from 10.00-10.15am; Clark Memorial Church, Largs from 11.00-11.30am; and Pizza Hut, Kilmarnock from 1.00-1.30pm.

A smaller lorry will be used and the charity said that sadly there will no longer be monthly collections at Girvan, Maybole, Ayr, Troon, Dalry, Saltcoats or Ardrossan but donations can be made to the Blythswood Shop in Prestwick (including furniture) and the Recycling Bank at Saltcoats Parish Church.

In addition special arrangements will be made in these towns for the Shoe Box Appeal.

The need for donated goods is still as great as ever and it is hoped that supporters will make the most of the new arrangements to ensure that Blythswood Care can continue to benefit vulnerable children and adults in Europe, Asia and Africa, and to operate food banks and a rehabilitation centre in Scotland.

The Collection lorry accepts donated clothing, shoes, books, small items of furniture, bric a brac and foodstuffs.

All donated items are processed by the Blythswood Care charity.
