Girvan Foodbank has seen the need for its services increase dramatically in its first year of operation.
The service operates from the South Parish Church Hall three times a week; Monday and Friday from 10am-12noon and Sunday from 1-3pm and all who call in are welcomed with the offer of tea, coffee, prayer and a listening ear - or you can simply collect the food and leave.
Organisers Alan and Jean said: “We have seen many lives changed just through spending time with people and committing their situations in prayer to a God who loves them and accepts them in their time of need.
“The continued support from the churches and the people of the local community, who give time and food to the foodbank, is greatly appreciated, both by the volunteers and the people who receive this much needed help at a time of crisis.
“We at Girvan Foodbank would also like to take this opportunity to thank Grant’s for their donation of £500 to South Ayrshire Foodbank, which helps enable the whole process of collecting, boxing and distributing the food to those most in need. If you find yourself in need of this service, due to a sudden crisis in your life, you will be warmly welcomed.”
