GIVING the biggest clue yet that he will run for office in next year’s local authority elections in Scotland, Girvan and District Community Council chairman Alec Clark said he would stand down from his current post in May next year.

Accepting re-election to his current post at the community council’s annual general meeting in Girvan last week Mr Clark said that he would stand down as chairman whether or not he was successful in the elections in May 2012.

At the meeting Mr Clark was re-elected unopposed and Pat Sharp was nominated as vice-chairman with Christine Robertson continuing as secretary and Cathy Collins staying on as treasurer.

Mr Clark said: “I am hoping to stand for some type of post in the forthcoming May elections. Whether successful or not I will stand down as chairman after that.”
