Do you want to know what South Ayrshire Council is doing to address homelessness?

Or what is being done to improve the energy efficiency of homes in South Ayrshire? Are you interested in our plans for new affordable housing?

Then have a look at South Ayrshire Council’s draft Local Housing Strategy and tell them what you think.

The council says the strategy is really important as it sets out its plans for housing and neighbourhoods for the next five years — this is your chance to influence the strategy before it goes for formal adoption in December 2016.

Over the last year, the council has been working with tenants, residents and local service providers to develop the 2017-2022 strategy.

Late last year, discussion sessions with the public took place in the main towns across South Ayrshire and they are holding two final drop-in events in September to get your views on the proposals.

The drop-in events are taking place in Ayr and Girvan: Wednesday 21 September 2016, Ayr Town Hall, New Bridge Street, 6:00pm to 8:00pm and Wednesday 28 September 2016, Girvan Academy, 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

You can go along any time between the start and end time.

Councillor Philip Saxton, Housing and Customer Services Portfolio Holder for the Council said: “We want to know what people think of our plans for housing and housing services in South Ayrshire. The Local Housing Strategy is relevant to those living in all types of housing so it’s important that we hear from as many people as possible. If you have an issue or an idea, please tell us before the strategy is set in stone for the next five years.”

If you can’t make it to a drop in event, you can have a look at a draft version of the Local Housing Strategy at and give your feedback. Printed copies will also be available in customer service centres and libraries
