Football crazy head teacher retires

The Straiton Primary School headteacher has retired after 13 years in the post. David Hogg described his experience as “the happiest time of my teaching career”.

A lifetime Liverpool football supporter, he spent one-third of his 36 years in education at the south Carrick village school and his departure was marked by events and presentations on behalf of pupils, staff and the whole village community.

The most treasured mementos of his time at Straiton will undoubtedly be the gifts given to him by the pupils. He was presented with a club strip signed by all the Liverpool players and a football signed by the school’s pupils to mark his departure.
