Folk music fans flocked to Girvan at the weekend to celebrate the 40th anniversary Girvan traditional Folk Festival.

Stranraer’s Robyn Stapleton and Irish group Altan were the main attractions at the festival.

Also on the bill were the Fiona Hunter Band, Ellen and Kevin Mitchell, Chris Miles, Billy Henderson, May Mayberry, Mike Hancock and Colin McAllister.

No Irish traditional band in the last dozen years has had a wider impact on audiences and music lovers throughout the world than Altan.

There were concerts and a healthy fringe festival in pubs and clubs throughout the weekend.
