Girvan is once again gearing itself up for its annual Harbour Gala day of fun for all ages which is set to take place on Sunday (July 19).
The event which is organised by the Girvan Lifeboat team is their biggest fundraiser of the year.
This year is the 150th anniversary of the lifeboat being stationed in Girvan and this day provides another opportunity for the Girvan Lifeboat crew to tell people about the work that they do.
The Harbour Gala will be taking place between 12pm and 4pm at the town’s harbour and if you head down, like those pctured previously, you will not be disappointed.
There really is something for everyone with this years event with attractions and things to do. See the Lifeboat and equipment, have a burger at the crew BBQ which also features a raffle, tombola, bottle stall, RNLI Shop and a car boot sale. There will also be many independent stalls, fairground rides, Owl Magic, Dancers, DJ music, Ayila Rescue Dogs a climbing wall and much more.
For the second year running the Lifeboat team is working in conjunction with other emergency services that the crew often works alongside.
Incorporated into the afternoon will be Scottish Fire & Rescue, Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service, Galloway Mountain Rescue, Scottish Emergency Riders Volounteer Service and the Police Crime Prevention Unit.
Organisers are hoping that the weather will stay dry to ensure a good turnout for what is always one of the highlights in the Girvan calendar.
You can also find out about volunteering with the RNLI from crew, support staff to fundraisers. There are many roles to which the Girvan Lifeboat team would more than welcome anyone interested.
