GIRVAN will help mark Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee in June next year by lighting a beacon in the town.

As part of the two-day celebrations next year, organisers want villages and towns across the UK and Commonwealth to take part in the historic celebrations.

On Monday, June 4, the aim is to light 2,012 beacons - the length and breadth of the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, the Commonwealth and other countries around the world to mark this important and historic moment in The Queen’s Reign.

Members of Girvan Community Council enthusiastically backed the project and were looking forward to taking part in the historic celebrations.
