The closing date for the competition to name the new £5 million Girvan & South Carrick leisure and community facility has been extended.
Children and adults who live or work in the Girvan and South Carrick area now have until Friday 9th October to get their entries in for a chance to win a year’s free membership at the facility.
The extension is to allow everyone in the Girvan and South Carrick area, including school pupils more time to participate in the competition.
Entrants are asked to not only name the new facility but to design a logo that will be used alongside the suggested name; designs can be ‘rough’ sketches or drawings.
To enter the competition use one of the official entry boxes available in all Girvan and South Carrick schools, Girvan Customer Service Centre, Girvan Townhouse, Girvan Library, the Carrick Buildings, Carrick Gazette offices and locations in South Carrick villages.
You can also enter online by visiting www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/girvan-leisure-competition
The new facility – which is planned to open at Girvan Harbour in 2016/17 – will make a big difference for local people and visitors, with a swimming pool, soft play area, gym, studio and café providing lots of fun for families across the area.
All entries must be sent/handed in by 5pm on Friday 9th October 2015.
All entries must be original designs and suggestions and a judging panel – made up of representatives from SCCL and South Ayrshire Council – will select a shortlist of entries.
Shortlisted entrants will then get the opportunity to work with a professional graphic designer to finalise their idea.
