Girvan’s Lorna is manager of the year for Thomas Cook

Arranging holidays in the sun for Carrick folk as earned a Girvan travel agent a prestigious manager of the year award.

Lorna McColm, who has managed Thomas Cook in Girvan for the past 18 years, is manager of the year for the West of Scotland, Cumbria and the Isle of Man for the company.

The award recognised the customer service and targets the Girvan office has met over the past year.

Lorna praised her team in Girvan, Elizabeth Warnock, Emily Pike, Alison Baird and Nicola Heywood in accepting the award.

She said: “I am absolutely delighted and very proud. It’s really about the team here in Girvan achieving the targets we are set.”

The most popular destinations for people in Girvan this year were Florida, New York and Las Vegas with cruises in the Mediterranean and Caribbean also in demand.

Lorna, who is married with two daughters, added: “We would just like to continue having Thomas Cook in the town and that people will support that by booking their travel with us.”
