Girvan Trust Thank You Letter

The Young People of Girvan Youth Trust would like to thank everyone for supporting our summer activities programme on the Seafront.

Whilst the recent unsettled weather has seen the cancellation of the Frank Welshman Duo and the Dalmellington Youth Band the overwhelming response to our Children’s Entertainment and Music on the Prom has been greatly appreciated by GYT.

The good weather has also seen over 3,000 people on the Boating Pond this summer.

The young people are currently working on a plan for a grand finale for September weekend. This will also mark the seasonal closure of the Boating Pond.

Having instigated the repair to the esplanade stonework and the installation of stairway handrails the Trust is now liaising with the council in regards to carrying out some more building improvement work along the seafront.

In the meantime we would gladly welcome any comments, suggestions and support that will help our long term plan to continue to improve the appearance and standard of seafront facilities and attractions for 2014. We would, in particular, welcome the public view on our longer term proposal to re-establish the Stair Park Bandstand as a main venue for future seaside entertainment and music. Is there enough support for this use of the Bandstand. ?

Comments, positive and negative, can be e-mailed to, placed on facebook, or sent to Z1 Youth Bar, 154 Dalrymple Street, Girvan.
