South Ayrshire’s Licensing Forum is looking for a new member who can get involved in local licensing issues.

All that is required is an interest in licensing issues and a commitment to playing a full and active role in the Forum.

Local licensing forums were set up in August 2007 under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 and were established to better connect local licensing boards with the communities affected by their decisions.

The South Ayrshire Licensing Forum represents the views of people concerned with the operation of the alcohol/liquor licensing system in the South Ayrshire area.

The Forum, which meets four times each year, is made up of representatives from current personal and premises licence holders, health, education or social work, Strathclyde Police, South Ayrshire Licensing Board, young people and members of the local community.

Robin Russell, South Ayrshire Licensing Forum convener, said: “This is a great opportunity to come on board and make sure they can input to what is happening in relation to licensing issues.”

To nominate yourself, contact South Ayrshire Council’s Licensing Team at Town Buildings, 29 New Bridge Street, Ayr KA7 1JX. Tel: 01292 617683 or email: The deadline for nominations is March 31 2011.
