Carrick residents who are planning to travel further afield for Mothers Day on Sunday are set to be hit by travel chaos.
The A77 is set to be closed all weekend from Friday March 13 until the early hours of Monday March 16 between Girvan and Stranraer whilst trains will not be running between Ayr and Stranraer as well.
That’s due to Network Rail carrying out what they say are essential engineering works. Train services on the Ayr- Stranraer line have not be running on Sunday’s since February 22 and they will again not run on the following Sunday (March 22) either.
The A77 will be closed from 11pm on Friday March 13 until 4am on Monday March 16 as Tran Serv Scotland carry out resurfacing works, lining works and signing works. Local access will be maintained as far as Ballantrae.
A spokesperson for Scotland TranServ said: “Scotland TranServ has been in close liaison with local transport operating companies throughout the planning of this programme of works.
“We are working with Scotrail to accomodate their replacement bus service through the closure on Sunday 15 March 2015. A signed diversion route will be in place for other traffic to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists alike.”
