SANTA and his sack of toys could be making a belated return to Girvan Playgroup after staff accept a cheque for £500 towards new play resources.
Playgroup staff were delighted to accept the donation from Girvan Co-Op representatives on Tuesday after having been the beneficiaries of the store’s charity fundraising efforts last year.
The local childcare facility, which operates out of Girvan Community Centre on Dalrymple Street, was selected alongside Breakthrough Breast Cancer as the supermarket’s charity of choice for 2012. And Co-Op staff were this week able to formally present them with their cash, above.
Playgroup leaders Lana Rafferty, Liz Walker and Rhona Walker said they were thrilled to accept the donation.
“We are self-funded, so we really appreciate it. It’s fantastic,” said Lana.
“The community is really good to the playgroup,” added Liz. “It’s really the Girvan people that are giving us the money and fundraising really counts for a lot.”
