The Gazette has been contacted this week by a resident of the area who is concerned about a potential phone calling scam.
The individual revealed that they had received an call from an international line which asked them details about their Sky account.
The caller proceeded to tell the individual that their Sky+ viewing card needed to be replaced before asking them for their name, address and date of birth.
And the resident was also asked for their direct debit and bank account details, which they did not give out before putting the phone up.
The individual promptly phoned Sky who said that they definitely don’t contact customers when their viewing card is about to ‘run out’ and that they had nothing to do with the call.
