Nominations for South Ayrshire Council’s Outstanding People Awards are now open.
The awards give members of the public the opportunity to recognise council employees who have gone that extra mile to make a difference to you or people that you know. Nominations can come from members of the public, customers and other staff.
The last Outstanding People Awards generated over 150 nominations for individuals and teams across all Council services. Last year’s winners stood out from the crowd, thanks to their commitment, enthusiasm and initiative as they strive to deliver public services.
There are five nomination categories:
Service Excellence – Nominate an individual or team that consistently provide a first class service on behalf of the Council.
Innovation – Nominate an individual or team that have demonstrated initiative and found a new way of working in a bid to help you and improve a service.
Equalities in Action – Nominate an individual or team who have shown commitment to ‘equality and diversity’.
Sustainability – Nominate an individual or team for implementing ‘green’ working practices into their daily working lives and benefiting the environment.
Inspirational Young Employee – Nominate employees aged between 16 and 25 who have impressed and inspired you through their enthusiasm, commitment, dedication and overall contribution in their workplace.
Nominations can be submitted online at: www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/awards .
All nominees will win a bronze certificate of achievement. A judging panel will then look at all submissions and shortlist the finalists. Each of the finalists will receive a silver award from which the final five winners are selected.
Councillor Robin Reid, Resources and Performance Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: “Staff from all across the Council already do an amazing job every day and these awards are to celebrate those that go just a little bit further. These are challenging times so it is even more important that hard working staff receive recognition.
“The Awards are our way of applauding staff that lead by example and uphold our commitment to deliver excellent services to the people of South Ayrshire.
“Last year, winners included a Modern Apprentice, a homecare worker, a janitor and an education officer, which shows the depth of staff that do an amazing job throughout the Council.
“I would encourage people across South Ayrshire to nominate, so that staff can be recognised for their commitment and dedication to the task.”
