Reward for farm fire information

A reward is being offered to help find those responsible for causing extensive damage to a farm building near Girvan.

Police are appealing for information from the local community following a wilful fireraising at a farm near Girvan on Sunday, May 25.

Around 12.30am police were called to a report of the fire at a derelict building at Pinminnoch Farm. There was no one injured.

Following an investigation, the cause of the fire is being treated as deliberate.

Enquiries have been ongoing in the area since the fire happened, and police would now like to appeal for information to help trace those responsible.

The insurance company have also advised that they are prepared to make a substantial financial reward for any information leading to the conviction of who is responsible.

Detective Sergeant Barry Walker of Kilmarnock Police Office said: “The damage to the building was extensive following this suspicious fire, and this is the reason that the insurance company would like to offer a reward to hopefully encourage people to come forward with information.

“I would urge anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious around the time that the fire was started, or indeed anyone with any information on this incident that may assist police enquiries to contact Police Scotland on 101.
