Girvan Rotarians enjoyed their outing to Dumfries House.

The Rotary Club of Girvan were recently fortunate enough to be given a tour of Dumfries House, just outside of Cumnock which is one of Britain’s most beautiful stately homes. The Rotary Group made their way by car and firstly visited the newly opened Walled Garden before making their way to the main house .

Guide Gail Gilchrist who took them for a superb High Tea before starting the tour. The tour of the house was so entertaining, with lots of time spent in wonderful rooms full of history and character all which had been painstakingly restored .

This ‘little’ old house in a quiet corner of Ayrshire has 10% of all the authenticated Chippendale furniture that exists in the world.

The Rotarians thanked Gail of Dumfries House for her splendid and informative tour, while commenting she was one of the best tour guides the whole party had ever come across.
