Police in South Ayrshire have launched an initiative to raise awareness on simple steps to keep homes, garden sheds and other property safe.
From last week through to Friday, August 31, officers will be using social media and working in partnership with local businesses to encourage residents to take time to review their home security.
PC Mark Watson, community safety officer in South Ayrshire, said: “During this initiative we will be seeking additional opportunities to provide security information and advice in local communities and to speak with as many residents as we can.
“Throughout this period we will be updating our social media accounts with some simple steps that people can take to keep their homes and property secure and I would encourage everyone to share this advice with family and friends including those who may not be online.”
Further home safety information is available on the Police Scotland website - http://www.scotland.police.uk/…/home-and-p…/secure-your-home - which advises that the first step is to think about basic good housekeeping routines that aren’t expensive.
Officers are also holding awareness events in Ayr to give specific advice and information.
Ayrshire Police held an awareness event at Dobbie’s Garden Centre, Ayr last week and this Wednesday, August 29, they will be at B&Q, Ayr, from 10am to 12 noon.
