The Carrick Gazette’s very own Vicky Barrowcliffe is set to undergo a tough task next month when she has to remain silent for ten hours.
But it is all for a good cause as our advertising sales executive is keeping quiet all in order to raise money for the proposed new leisure and community facility for Girvan and South Carrick which will be situated at the Girvan Harbourside.
Vicky is set to remain silent from 10am-8pm on Friday August 22 and will be undergoing the silent treatment for most of the day in the Gazette office.
Those who know her, will be aware that Vicky does like to chat but she insists that she will complete the ten hours of no talking which also includes no giggling as well, just to make it even tougher for Vicky!
Sponsor money has already been coming in for the cause and sponsor sheets will be available in various places around Girvan.
You can give money in at the Carrick Gazette office, The Vaults Pub in Glendoune Street and the Sweetie Shop, Maly’s Cafe and Shake Fit all of whom are situated in Dalrymple Street.
This fundraising idea comes after Gazette reporter Ewan McQueen went through the pain of having his legs waxed back in May to raise money for the new Girvan swimming pool.
Since then, it was thought that Vicky must also do something for the cause, though to be fair she did come up with the idea herself.
She might be set to find it difficult but the rest of us are set to enjoy some quiet time!
