Trial set as Girvan man denies assault charge

A thirty-four-year-old man from Girvan will go on trial at Stranraer Sheriff Court in August after pleading not guilty to two charges of assault.

Rodney Julyan, of 2 Piedmont Road, appeared from custody at the court on Monday to deny assaulting Diane McCutcheon in the kitchen of a house in Garrick Street, Stranraer, last Sunday.

The charge alleges that he pushed her onto a kitchen table so that the table collapsed and the complainer landed on the floor with the accused on top of her.

Mr Julyan also denied assaulting Ms McCutcheon in the bathroom of the house by striking her on the face with a glass, grabbing her by the throat, and throwing her into a bath full of water.
