TRIBUTES were paid to Girvan and Carrick’s top police officer after he announced he is to move to a new role .
Inspector Andy Clapperton is to become response inspector for the Ayr and Kilmarnock area this month. He will be replaced by Inspector William Ramsay who worked as a sergeant in Girvan a few years ago.
Girvan and district community council chairman Alec Clark said: “Andy is one of the most efficient and professional officers and, at all times, has taken community interests to heart. He will be sorely missed by all in the Carrick community. Inspector Clapperton, right, said: “We are very interested in what happens at community council meetings throughout the Carrick area.
“The issues brought up are taken up at the highest level and there are many examples of how issues have been tackled with help from community councils.”
