Significant progress has been made this week on the redevelopment works at the Trump Turnberry resort.
Wednesday saw the beginning of turf being put down on the new pitch and putt course which will be situated at the front of the hotel.
Once it is completed golfers will be able to challenge themselves on an 18 hole course which will be of the highest standard.
And plans have also been submitted to South Ayrshire Council which will see significant alterations to Turnberry’s iconic lighthouse if they are approved.
The documents show that the Trump organisation are planning to convert the lighthouse into further accomodation with plans for two bedrooms with suites as well as a grill room, kitchen and living room which will be used as a halfway house. Listed building consent is also required as the lightouse is a Class B building.
George Sorial, Vice President at the Trump Organisation said: “Everything is going well at Turnberry and moving very quickly.
“I would expect the pitch and putt course to be finished by the end of next week and the work on the clubhouse is going well too and it should be open by the end of April; beginning of May.”
“We are optimistic that we’ll get planning permission for the plans for the lighthouse which is a beautiful feature which deserves to be restored to its former glory.
“It will also be used by golfers for a bite to eat and drink.”
