The move to set up a new sub group to take the pool project forward has been welcomed by councillors and community leaders in Girvan.
Ken Johnstone, Vice-Chair of South Carrick Community Leisure and chairman of Girvan and District Community Council, said: “We’re at a vital stage of this exciting project with designs to be finalised, the planning application to be progressed and steps put in place to take this new facility all the way from design to delivery.
“With this committed group taking ownership of the project and making the decisions that need to be made on a daily basis there’s an added momentum that will really drive the project forward.
“There’s a lot to be done – there’s no doubt – but together SCCL and the Council are working to make it happen for the people of Girvan and South Carrick.”
Councillor Alec Oattes commented, “I am delighted that the board of SCCL and the Council have agreed this course of action which can only be positive in taking the Girvan Pool project forward.” He also praised the efforts of Council leader, Bill McIntosh for his personal commitment and for being so proactive in bringing the plan forward.
