Girvan Youth Trust is hoping to track down the oldest couple who honeymooned in Girvan in the days when the town thrived as a seaside resort.
It is the organisation’s latest venture in their bid to provide locals and visitors to Girvan with A Lifelong Memory of A Day at the Seaside.
The group are continuing to rebrand and regenerate Girvan as the ideal place for a seaside visit for tourists and families.
Their seaside programme, including their popular Music on the Prom on Sunday’s during July and August, has brought back memories for people of what Girvan was like in its heyday.
Now the Youth Trust has discovered that Girvan was also a popular honeymoon destination.
They recognise that Girvan’s days as a major holiday destination are gone but through their seaside programme of activities they are keen to create new memories for people , especially with their grandchildren or rekindle old memories as they visit the seafront.
The Youth Trust is currently running seafront entertainment and activities free of charge on a Tuesday and a Thursday as well as operating the boating pond every afternoon from 1-5pm, except on a Wednesday.
Anyone who did honeymoon in Girvan is asked to get in touch with Youth Trust project manager Bill Logan on 01465 714729 who will be happy to provide more information on their honeymoon appeal.
