Ayr and Stranraer get home starts

Ayr United will host ex-SPL side Hamilton Accies on their return to First Division football.

The Somerset Park side welcome Billy Reid’s men on Saturday, August 6 before a tough away fixture at Dundee. Ayr then have another two home games in succession after their trip to Dens Park when they host Falkirk and Raith Rovers in a tricky first opening batch of games.

The Honest Men will be looking for a strong start as they look to survive in the First Division this season.

The fixtures were announced last Friday morning and fellow south-west side Stranraer host newly-relegated Alloa at Stair Park on the first Saturday of August.

Keith Knox’s men then travel to the National Stadium to face Queens Park, host Berwick Rangers then are away to Montrose on the last Saturday of August.

The Blues will be gunning for promotion this season after falling short, and will be aiming for at least nine points from the opening four games.
