Ayr Burners hosted their second free youth friendly Cyclo Cross skills session on Saturday under pleasant blue skies in the idyllic setting of the Rozelle Estate. A short course was marked out for the ten kids to hone and refine their riding skills through a mixture of games and challenges with the help of some expert advice from the two ride leaders present.
Riders practiced safe dismount and remount techniques and discovered new proficiency for descending and ascending on differing terrains. Next weekend sees ‘The Burners’ host a Cycle Jumble at the St Meddans Church Hall in Troon on Saturday for local cyclists to sell, buy or swap any surplus kit, components or clothing.
Throughout the afternoon there will also be a maintenance workshop teaching basics such as puncture repair and general bike upkeep. To book a table please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
On Sunday the women of Ayr Burners embark on a 40km road ride on the cycle paths and back roads of the “Ayrshire Riviera”. This ride will be run at a social pace with a trained ride leader. Participants should be comfortable cycling for at least two hours. The ride will finish with a scheduled cafe stop in the village of Monkton. Visit ayrburners.org for full details.
