With 2015 having arrived, the members of Ayr Roads CC / Harry Fairbairn BMW / Sprockets.com embarked on their traditional New Year outing to the cllub hut, situated in the picturesque village of Colmonell.
A group of 30 eager riders amassed at the Beresford Terrace meeting point on Sunday morning, with thoughts of the a log fire and a comforting bowl of hot soup softening the stinging blow of the early morning temperatures. A route based around safety was planned, with the riders being wary of un-treated minor roads where ice would still be prevalent.
Girvan was reached in good time, with an ascent of The Byne making sure that everyone was well warmed up before the fast descent along the Stinchar valley towards Colmonell.
Upon arrival a toast to the New Year was given, and with everyone fed, watered and warmed the return voyage was set upon with the aid of a helping hand in the form of a strong Southerly wind.
The large bunch made light work of both the coast road and Penny Glen, with everyone working well together as one solid unit.
Eventually the home confines of Ayr were reached, with everyone present remarking on yet another excellent outing with Ayr Roads Cycling Club.
The ARCC Sunday run departs Beresford Terrace, Ayr, at 9.30am.
