Beach rugby is all set to liven up Turnberry this weekend with an exciting programme of events lined up by organisers.

Now in its fourth year organisers have ensured this years event is set to be bigger and better than ever and reckon it won’t be golf that’s the talking point at Turnberry for once.

The two day event over Friday 3rd July and Saturday 4th July will see the campsite open at 5pm before a fantastic opening party will get under way from 9.30pm once everyone has arrived and settled in with Stefan Yanik providing the tunes.

For those arriving on Saturday, the campsite will open at 8am before its the U16 legacy beach rugby that kicks off the action with two hours of thrills and spills featuring the best young rugby players.

From 1pm onwards there is a whole afternoon of adults beach rugby featuring many teams the Turnberry Beach Rugby organisers are delighted to see back including Ayr Under 18s team who have recently returned from a trip to South Africa, a trip that was contributed to at the 2014 beach rugby weekend.

Bill McLaren’s Foundation Team and their charity representatives will also be in attendance and will be sure to garner huge support.

In a first for the weekend, there will also be beach volleyball taking place, also starting at 1pm after organisers linked up with the Scottish Beach Volleyball Association and they are confident this will prove a popular addition.

Ahead of the event, organisers would like to give a big thanks to volunteers, supporters and sponsors who without this event would not happen but also ask to ensure that upon departing the campsite, that everyone clears up any rubbish.

Here’s hoping there’s great weather!
