Last week Ayr Burners QTS headed for the Tweedlove Cycling Festival - a two week celebration of everything bike related and much more besides.
Based in and around the Tweed valley an impressive array of races, kids events, and social gatherings are lined up for the thousands of cyclists who converge every year in the beautiful Borders area. On Thursday evening it was a CycloCross race - but with a twist. Peebles high street and back lanes were converted into an urban race route complete with twists, turns, stairs, hay bales, and a Le Mans style start to boot. Ayr Burner Kevin Pugh used his fine form to claim second place in the pairs competition with partner Brian Hutton in tow.
This week sees Round 2 of the Summer League with the Barnweil TT event. Departing Monkton Cross at 7pm a short testing loop has been devised that will get the lungs and legs working. On Saturday it’s another big off road outing for The Burners as they hit the River Ayr Way. Starting at source in Glenbuck Village the route follows the River Ayr as it meanders through Ayrshire on its 65 kilometre course.
