On Saturday, Carrick travelled to Jordanhill Phoenix looking to continue their unbeaten league run.
Carrick started the game where they left off the previous week, applying pressure with the backs cutting through the Phoenix defence to create a breakaway try from Ross Knight, who picked up a loose ball and outstripped the Phoenix defence to score.
The Carrick backs looked dangerous throughout and some excellent support play from the Carrick forwards saw Michael Eaglesham, Ewan McKay and Wullie Deans scoring before half-time to secure a bonus point. But Phoenix hit back with a try of their own just before the interval and they came out in the second half in the same mood, securing another two tries to take the score to 22-15.
Carrick picked themselves up and the defence improved in the closing stages, with the forwards securing vital possession and Euan McGregor pulling the strings in the backs and slotting a penalty. The rather ill-tempered affair drew to a close with Carrick securing a 25-15 bonus point victory.
