Club aiming to “Get Girvan Rowing.”

The joys of spring rowing.
The joys of spring rowing.

With a re-launch on March 24th 2015, Girvan rowers are powering forward with training sessions on and off the water.

Dry and bright conditions in April have made for very pleasant rowing in Girvan Harbour and on the River Girvan.

Regular Tuesday sessions at 6pm and Sunday rowing outings at 2pm are attracting new members to the Club, while junior members are keen to build on rowing techniques learned during the 2014 season.

With recent awards from South Ayrshire Council’s Community Development Fund and Carrick Futures, the Club is able to develop its “Get Girvan Rowing” project.

Training on a variety of skills will be offered to regular members. Rowing technique, first aid and radio operation are just some of the opprtunities on offer.

With support from these awards and from local businesses, Club members will have access to waterproof rowing kit for training and for use in Scottish Coastal Rowing Association events.
