On the back of a pulsating SJFA Super First Division encounter at Hamilton Park on Saturday Girvan boss Peter Leonard is calling on Girvan to get out and support their local team.
The team won the Ayrshire District League last season with the remarkable feat of staying unbeaten in all their league games during the competition.
Now they have moved up a league and are more than holding their own with the game on Saturday, an entertaining 4-3 win for Clydebank, halting Girvan’s run of almost 30 league games without defeat.
The club want the town to show their support by increasing the turn out at matches, joining the club committee and volunteering to help on match days.
Peter Leonard said: “This is a rallying call to everyone in Girvan. We need supporters to turn out and support the side. They are a great team, winning the league unbeaten last year, and we have had some excellent football this season in the super league.
“We’re asking locals to do what they can for the club, whether it is just turning up on a Saturday to support the team, or volunteering to help with the running of the club, we want to hear from you.”
The club are looking for volunteers to help with everything from putting up the nets on match days to selling programmes and everything in-between.
Peter added: “We’re a decent team playing attractive football and we would really like to see mums and dads bringing their kids along to the games. The club are building something good here and we want the town to come and support us as we don’t want to see it all wither on the vine, so to speak.”
“We have a great wee park and good facilities here at Hamilton Park.”
If you think you could help with volunteering with the club or to join the committee get in touch with Andrew Sinclair by phoning 07759 753425.
