Girvan gave a good statement of intent this week with a 4-1 win over Craigmark in the West of Scotland Ayrshire district league.
Next up for Girvan is another home match against Ardeer on Saturday, March 12 at 2pm in which they will hope to keep their winning streak going and move up the table.
Girvan, who have 23 points have three games in hand over second place Darvel on 25 points and five games in hand over leaders Irvine Victoria who sit on 35 points.
Girvan coach Peter Leonard said he was wquite happy with the performace from his team this week, and that they are now hoping for a run of games to keep the momentum going in the league.
Peter said: “Considering the conditions on the park at this time of year it was a good perforamce. The pitch is very heavy just now and takes its toll on the players.
“It was a good game on Saturday, a lot of their players we know because they have played with Girvan and Maybole so there was a little bit of friendly rivalry between the teams on Saturday. It was a good game to win. We just need a run of games now. There are a few knocks just now in the squad but Scott Dinwoodie came back into the squad on Saturday and weather permitting we can get a good run of games and get the fitness levels up again.”
Girvan got off to a great start on Saturday with a stunning free kick from Chris Allen who curled it around the wall and left the goalkeeper rooted to the spot.
Robert Paterson added a second for Girvan before Craigmark pulled one back early in the second half but two more goals from Girvan sealed the win.
