In the last game of the season, reigning Ayr & District Darts League champions the Corner Pocket A only needed a draw against the Carrick Sports Club B team to retain their title.

Things didn’t seem to be going their way, however as the home team raced into a 4-2 lead at the end of the singles.

In the doubles, the Corner Pocket pulled one back winning 2-1 to make the score 5-4 in favour of the Sports Club.

So it was all to play for, with the title depending on the result of the trebles.

And it went to the very last leg, with the Corner Pocket managing to win and get the draw they needed to hold on to the title.

It had been a night of great darts and excitement enhanced by the local rivalry of two Maybole teams battling to win.
