A group from Douglas Ewart High School took part in a once in a lifetime trip to experience the life of a Premier League footballer.
The group attended Stoke City’s match against Watford at The Britannia Stadium and the Manchester Derby between Manchester United and Manchester City at Old Trafford.
The trip, organised by Edinburgh based football tours specialists Trans World Soccer, aimed to give the youth players the opportunity to fulfil their dreams and live the life of Premier League footballers; combining watching some of the world’s biggest names with a football tournament and behind the scenes access to Manchester City’s home ground, The Etihad Stadium.
During the trip the players tested themselves during an intramural World Cup Tournament as well as gaining VIP access to The Etihad Stadium, witnessing first-hand what the Premier League players do on a match day. The whole experience was followed by Trans World Soccer TV, giving the group the opportunity to face the media during a press conference.
Douglas Ewart Pupil, Kian Dingwall couldn’t hold back his excitement when reminiscing about the experience: “It was brilliant. Getting to go to Old Trafford to see the Manchester Derby was a dream come true.”
Physics Teacher, Mr Miller, was keen to share how much fun the squad had on the trip: “It was a fantastic opportunity for the kids to see those players perform on the biggest stage in world football, it is something that the squad will never forget.
“Going behind the scenes at The Etihad Stadium was fantastic, I think it gave a few of the kids even more motivation to get to that level. We can’t thank Trans World Soccer enough for all their help in making the trip possible.”
