Depleted team effects Girvan Primary’s goal chances

IT WAS an entertaining but rather one-sided game for Girvan Primary School footballers last week as they lost against Holmston 8-1.

Unfortunately Girvan had to make three changes to their original line-up due to ill-health, including a last minute call-off by keeper Gregor Brown.

With only nine players – and midfielder Aaron Mooney and striker Jack Wilson playing out of position in goal – Girvan was on the back foot from the start, and goals from Holmston came thick and fast. Girvan did have a few goal-scoring opportunities, but too many balls went wide.

The second half proceeded pretty muich as the first, although some quality crossing and passing from Jay Watson and Connor Irvine resulted in a consolation goal from Aaron Mooney.A s blizzard conditions descended the referee called time on the game.

Congratulations to Scott Thompson and Cooper McClymont for making their debuts for the club, and thanks to Mrs Cl;ark for transport, refreshments, and vocal support. Thanks also to the parents and families who turned out to support Girvan.
