Girvan FC bounced back from their horror 2-2 draw with bottom-of-the table Ardeer Thistle to secure a comfortable 3-0 away win over Annbank United, writes Bob Burgess.
Steven Carswell headed home on 19 minutes. David Cunningham was on target from eight yards, 20 minutes into the second half and after Paul Cunningham was brought down in the box close on time, he dusted himself down and did the job from the spot.
Girvan have four games in hand over leaders Irvine and sit third behind Darvel.
Coach Peter Leonard was happy to be back on a winning track.
He told the Gazette: After the disaster of Ardeer this was a good performance. The boys bounced back and did well. We could have won by more as we hit the woodwork thrice.”
Girvan hostKello Rovers on Saturday (ko2pm) and the injured John Maxwell, Chris Allan and Danny Cunningham return.
Peter said: “Kello are going well and scoring goals. We have to be confident. We’re looking forward to playing on a decent surface after the wet spell – nice to have some grass.”
