Loch Lomond 22
BOTH sides served up a real cracker at Maybole as the tries flowed throughout a hard-fought afternoon. Despite the heavy Saturday morning rain, the pitch held up well and it was the visitors who raced out the blocks, running in two converted tries in the opening ten minutes.
A stunned Carrick began battle their way back into the contest and Nick Rossi crossed the line for his side’s first try, which Euan McGregor converted before firing home a penalty to reduce the deficit to four points.
However, the visitors hit back with another try and a penalty to race into a 22-10 lead at half-time.
But a much-improved Carrick side took to the field in the second half. Rossi bagged his second try of the afternoon, and McGregor added a further six points with the boot to leave his side trailing by just two points with ten minutes remaining. It set up a grandstand finish and Rossi completed his hat trick of tries with a superbly-worked try. McGregor completed the scoring with an excellent drop goal to make it four wins out of four for the Maybole side.
Second-top Carrick are on the road on Saturday to take on Cumnock for a 3pm kick off.
