This year Girvan Musical Society is presenting a new and exciting show in Girvan Academy Theatre – Musical!

This show boasts a fifty strong cast including twenty children and young people joining the company for the first time.

Devised by Musical Director, Andrew Nicol and is, as the title suggests, a whirlwind trip round some wonderful musicals and best loved songs. It includes songs by Irving Berlin, Lerner and Lowe and lots of hit songs from shows including Mary Poppins, The Wizard of Oz, My Fair Lady and many others.

It also explores the relationship between musicals and the popularity they gain through film, again from the classics such as Funny Girl with ‘ Don’t Rain On My Parade’ through to Annie and Chitty , Chitty Bang Bang all receiving the filmic treatment.

Andrew comments: ”Overall the show will be great fun with lots of songs you will know and love with hopefully a few new ones thrown in along the way! Our company has developed a great reputation for putting on a really entertaining show and I have no doubts that this will match up to our usual high standards. The programme of music is an exciting and challenging one which I think we are all looking forward to performing! Having the young people on board this year also adds a brand new dimension from the past few years.”

This is not one to miss so grab the last remaining tickets available from the Sweetie Shop and The Paper Shop, priced £5 for Tuesday evening and £8 for the remaining nights. The show will be performed nightly until Saturday, March 26.
