South Ayrshire Community Girls U15 football team continued their preparation for the forthcoming season with a fantastic 5-2 win against East Kilbride.
This new girls’ team is a combined effort from Girvan Youth, Prestwick, Caledonian & Ayr Utd all of which are just starting to learn the game at 11 aside, learning new positions and the offside rule.
With most of the girls meeting together for only the 2nd time there understanding of the game and keeping their shape while playing a very high standard of football.
The game started with the Ayrshire girls starting the brighter of the 2 teams, forcing a series of saves from the East Kilbride keeper.
East Kilbride opened the scoring with their first attack of the game after a mix up in the Ayrshire defence allowed their striker to bear down on goal and slot the ball past Shannon in goal.
Ayrshire equalised soon after, Nicola picking the ball up and driving forward and playing a neat through ball to debutant Morgan who coolly picked her spot and placed the ball into the net.
Becky was next on the score sheet after Caitlin McD put in an inch perfect cross and Becky rifled home.
East Kilbride tried hard to mount an attack but Ayrshire’s back 4 of Nicola, Caitlin J (Tiny) Charlie Ann and Courtney stood firm with Tiny breaking up everything that came her way.
Ayrshire’s 2 industrious midfielders wrapped the game up firstly Rachel McD playing a neat one two with Naomi and firing in a low shot to beat the keeper, then our other Rachel Scott who was outstanding all game got her just reward with a lovely 20 yard drive which left the EK keeper with no chance.
EK managed a consolation goal before the end but Ayrshire girls recorded their first win of the season.
Next Saturday South Ayrshire girls start the new season away to Hamilton Accies and we wish them all the best.
