Girvan were back in league action on Saturday and ran riot against Saltcoats as they won 5-0 at Hamilton Park.
Girvan had not played in the league since the end of August having been in senior Scottish Cup action against Lothian Thistle in recent weeks.
Peter Leonard’s men were in no mood to hang about and opened the scoring on 13 minutes when a corner was headed on by Robert Patterson and David Cunningham grabbed the opening goal.
It was 2-0 after 38 minutes when Patterson’s dangerous low cross was put into the net by a Saltcoats defender.
Girvan killed the game off just two minutes after the interval when a trialist slotted home from 18 yards.
Steven Douglas’s long kick out on the hour mark found Paul Cameron and he made it four. David Cunningham ensured Girvan were celebrating five goals when he scored after picking up a Joe Maxwell cross on 82 minutes.
The win moves Girvan up to fifth in the Ayrshire District League on four points after two games.
They face a tricky trip to Darvel on Saturday as the East Ayrshire side lie second in the table having won three out of their four games so far. Kick off at 2pm. Girvan will face Thorniewood in the West of Scotland Cup on October 10 at home.
