Improving Girvan were on the end of a 5-1 defeat by Darvel on Saturday on a pitch that was extremely tough to play on.
Girvan had picked up points recently against Dalry and Annbank and also ran league leaders Kilwinning close the week before so they travelled to Darvel in good spirits.
They created the first real chance of the game on 17 minutes when David McVittie put in Josh Sloan but he pulled his shot wide before Allan Robertson also missed a good opportunity.
Darvel punished Girvan when they took the lead on 24 minutes after pouncing on a mistake and they held onto their 1-0 lead until half time.
Five minutes after the restart Darvel went 2-0 up after Steven McKissock was short with a backpass and the home side player nipped in to score.
Avci produced a great save on 55 minutes but he could do nothing to stop the rebound from going inf for 3-0.
It was 4-0 shortly afterwards when Conner Davidson handled the box and Darvel scored the resulting penalty.
Michael Mossie had a shot saved with 20 minutes to go before Darvel added a fifth off the post on 75 minutes.
Davidson grabbed a consolation for Girvan close to full time when he vollyed home after a McKissock pass.
Girvan are at home to Whitletts on Saturday with kick off at 2pm.
