Girvan FC on the hunt for a new manager

Girvan FC are on the hunt for a new manager after Billy Thomson resigned earlier this week.

Thomson returned to the club for a second spell in July but the Hamilton Park men have suffered a torrid time this season so far after losing almost all of their squad and relying on youngsters with Thomson himself pulling on the boots regularly as well.

Last Saturday saw Girvan lose 8-0 at Whitletts having already lost 11-0 to the same opponents in the pre-season Ardagh League Cup in August.

They are rooted to the bottom of the Ayrshire District League having conceded 18 goals in their first three league games and also suffered a 1st round loss to Whitehill Welfare in the senior Scottish Cup.

Next up for Girvan is a home league match against Darvel on Saturday with kick off at 2pm.

As part of Club Licensing requirements candidates would need to have completed the Club Coach Certificate or C License within the last two years and be willing to attend annual Referee and Coaching seminars.

CVs, applications or expressions of interest should be made to club secretary Martin Young by email to by 7pm on Wednesday 8 October.
