On Wednesday 26th March Girvan Primary School played Tarbolton in a league game immediately followed by a first round Mackie Cup Game.

As Tarbolton were drawn to play both games at Girvan, it was decided to play them consecutively to save time and travel.

Girvan won both games in a convincing manner.

The first game was the league match. Aaron Mooney opened the scoring in what became a tsunami of goals coming from Aaron, Alan Harkness, Jack Wilson and substitute Blake Sloan. The final score was 8-1 to Girvan.

The second match was a lot more competitive however. Mason Brook opened the scoring for Girvan but Tarbolton scored twice, putting them in the lead for a short while. The clearly rattled but determined home team replied with a wonder goal coming after a mazy run from midfield from Kenny Sloan and another from Mason.

Although Tarbolton equalised in what was a very competitive spell in the game, Girvan soon stamped their authority by scoring four more goals courtesy of the dynamic duo of Alan and Aaron, making the score 7-3 by half-time.

The second half continued with plenty of goal mouth action with goals coming from Alan and Aaron again with Calum Ingram also getting on the scoresheet.

Although Tarbolton scored three more goals, the final score was 13-6 to Girvan.

These results mean Girvan have accrued six points out of six in the league and have now entered the quarter finals of the Mackie Cup where they will play Gardenrose Primary.

Many thanks go to Mrs Clark for transport and refreshments and to all the many parents who turned up to support Girvan.
