On Wednesday 30th April Girvan Primary played Gardenrose Primary in the quarter final of the Mackie Cup away at Maybole.
Unfortunately Girvan’s run of six wins in a row was put to the sword as Girvan’s players were taught a hard lesson in masterful passing and high tempo breaks on goal as the home side went through as worthy and deserved winners.
Gardenrose scored first but Mason Brook scored soon after from a lovely piece of passing from midfield. Unfortunately Gardenrose soon turned on the style and maintained possession and dominance for the rest of the half which ended 5-1 to Gardenrose.
In the second half Gardenrose’s pressure was unrelenting as they tried to make sure of the result and despite a consolation goal by Calum Ingram, Girvan’s heads soon went down and Gardenrose won in a convincing manner.
Many thanks go to Mrs Clark for transport and refreshments and to the parents who turned up to support Girvan.
Girvan’s next game is against St Ninian’s Primary in the final league game of the season, where a victory will make sure of Girvan winning the league title.
